What a pilot sees landing at one of the world's most dangerous airports

Paro Airport in Bhutan is located in a deep valley near the Paro Chhu river. The airport is about a mile and a half above sea level, and is difficult — and dangerous — to land at because of the 18,000-foot peaks surrounding it.


As if the surrounding geography didn't make it difficult enough, the runway is also short.



The BBC's Carmen Roberts joined the pilot in the cockpit on a landing to check out firsthand what landing at Paro is like:
