SYDNEY— A month out from what is forecast to be a scorching summer, Australia has experienced its hottest October day on record.
The average high across the country on Saturday reached 36.39 degrees celsius, the highest for the month of October since records began in 1910. It surpassed the previous record of 36.31 degrees set in 1988
