Big losses and a ton of unsold smartphones aren't slowing down Amazon. The company just launched a $39 Amazon Fire TV Stick streaming media device.
Like the similarly-named Fire TV, the tiny stick plugs directly into one of your TV's HDMI port; it supports Prime Instant video and music (with subscription), Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, Hulu and others. It also undercuts Amazon's own streaming box, Fire TV, by $60. The Fire TV box, which was launched amid some fanfare in April, also supports near console-level gaming; the Fire TV Stick supports casual gaming.
