Keeping your seatbelt on while seated on an airplane may seem like an unnecessary inconvenience, but there's a reason for that precaution, as the crew and passengers on an easyJet flight from Gatwick to Naples learned on Monday.
Flight 8529 hit an air pocket, causing such severe turbulence that three flight crew members' heads hit the plane's roof, according to a passenger who said one broke a hip and another was knocked unconscious.
