HTC has been teasing its Desire 820 device on China's Weibo network for much of last month, including the revelation that it'll be the first device to sport Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 615 chipset, which is set to run on a 64-bit architecture. Now, the device has been thoroughly pictured ahead of its expected IFA announcement on Thursday. Keep in mind that the leaked images look eerily like the Desire 816, so take this with more than the usual grain of salt. Besides sporting four 1.8GHz cores and four 1.0GHz cores - both of the new Cortex-A53 variety - the new Snapdragon 615 chipset will also feature the latest generation Adreno 405 GPU. The 5.5-inch device will have a rather disappointing screen of 720p resolution, but will make up for it with a 13MP/8MP camera combo, 2,600mAh battery, 8GB of storage, and 1.5GB RAM. Meanwhile, HTC also announced another 64-bit-capable smartphone recently, the Desire 510. The Desire 510 is decidedly the less robust of the two, with a quad-core chip and 4.7-inch screen.
