Anita Ekberg, global sex symbol and star of the classic film La Dolce Vita, died on Sunday. She was 83.
The Swedish-born actress died in Rome, after complications from a series of illnesses, her lawyer Patrizia Ubaldi confirmed
La Dolce Vita, a 1960 Italian film directed by Federico Fellini, put her on the map as a sex symbol and actress to watch. Its most memorable scene featured Ekberg wading through Rome's Trevi fountain in a strapless gown. The actress previously won a 1956 Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer.
Ekberg went on to star in many more films. She was married twice: to actor Anthony Steel from 1956 to 1959, and Rik Van Nutter from 1963 to 1975. In a 2006 interview with a Swedish media outlet, Ekberg said her only regret was never having children. Read more...
