When billionaire Pierre Omidyar announced First Look Media, it sounded too good to be true


The media company would be well-financed from the former eBay founder's fortune and seek to provide a place for the best journalists to independently operate, pursuing stories that other outlets could not or would not publish. Some of the most talented and respected reporters and writers joined, The Intercept launched and the dream seemed like it could be coming true.
