Six Flags Magic Mountain's famous Colossus roller coaster collapsed Monday afternoon, after catching fire during renovations. Firefighters worked tirelessly to put out the blaze.
Following 36 years of operation, the iconic wooden coaster was closed on Aug. 17, with plans for it to be replaced by a new and improved version of the ride called the Twisted Colossus, according to Los Angeles television station KTLA.
The fire started at the "top of the lift hill," and was eventually contained, Six Flags announced on Twitter. The park was closed at the time, and no injuries were reported. Read more...
