Google spent a lot of time detailing its Android Wear platform for wearables on Wednesday at its annual Google I/O Developers Conference. But near the end of the presentation, the company snuck in a bit of unexpected news: the launch of the Samsung Gear Live smartwatch.
The Samsung Gear Live — available for pre-orders this afternoon and officially launching July 7 — is the third smartwatch to join the Android Wear family. It will be the first, alongside the LG G smartwatch, to hit the market. Motorola Moto 360 won't debut until later this summer, Google said.
