Lyft is headed to New York City.
The San Francisco-based ride-sharing company that connects passengers with available drivers through a mobile app is set to launch in New York for the first time on Friday
The Uber competitor will launch in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens; it won't be available in Manhattan right away, said Erin Simpson, a company spokesperson. Lyft hopes this strategy will ensure the company can meet rider demand, an approach the company has used in other cities like Los Angeles and Dallas.
