There are plenty of palaces with 17th century chandeliers, or armchairs dating to the 1800s, or parquet flooring laid down before our great-great-grandparents were born. And they're all lovely. But an extraordinary building in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, proves that a palace doesn’t need to be centuries old to ooze charm, gravitas, and more than a bit of kitsch.
The Reunification Palace, also known as the Independence Palace, has it all: sweeping vistas, sun-dappled terraces, lush gardens and an impressively large fountain out front.
