Photographer Marc Bushelle isn't just making beautiful photos, he's empowering his daughter, and thousands of other young girls, with every snap.
Bushelle was inspired to create photos of his 5-year-old daughter dressed as important black women in history when his wife, Janine Harper, came across another photographer who created a similar photo series.
"We thought that this would be a good thing to adapt to teach black history and empower our little girl," Bushelle told Mashable. In his series, he set out to focus on educating both his daughter, Lily, and anyone who viewed the photos specifically about black history, depicting famous women such as Toni Morrison, Grace Jones and Dr. Mae Jemison.
