Science has proved that animals make us happier. Petting a dog increases levels of oxytocin in your plasma, giving new meaning to the commonly known "bonding hormone."
Living in New York City makes it extremely difficult to own a pet. As a dog owner and someone who grew up in what some would consider a small zoo, knowing that it's nearly impossible for my dog to live here affects me. Despite working in a dog-friendly office, it would be unfair to pull my 85-pound pup from the spacious backyard and spoils of my parents' home in Virginia.
