A storm is brewing in the meteorology community — a super nerdy tempest


The controversy concerns a new study, published this week in the International Journal of Modern Physics B, that purports to have figured out a way to "diminish the major tornado threat in the Tornado Alley forever."


By building three walls—each 1,000 feet high, 160 feet wide and a hundred or more miles long—in strategic locations, such as Oklahoma, the study says, the "clash" of warm and cold air masses that produces such storms will be greatly diminished



No more fighting air masses means no more tornadoes, according to the paper's author, Temple University physics professor Rongjia Tao. Read more...
