There has been a shooting at Fort Hood military base in Killeen, Texas — the site of a November 2009 mass murder that claimed 13 lives — and a number of people are reported injured.

Local TV channel KCEN reports that there are several injuries from the shooting, and at least one patient being transported to the hospital. The shooting may have taken place in two different areas of the base — a medical building and a the base's Battle Simulation Center.
"Around 20 rounds were shot outside but then the shooter went in to the medical brigade building, according to a soldier on post at Fort Hood," USA Today reports. "The soldier said there appeared to be some sort of standoff happening." Read more...
