Before he wound up in a pink, two-story stucco house outside of Los Angeles, Haji Gulalai was arguably the most feared torturer in Afghanistan.
A Washington Post article published Monday names Gulalai as the instigator of torture at multiple Afghan prisons. He reportedly rose through the ranks to become a prominent member of the National Directorate of Security, Afghanistan's version of the Central Intelligence Agency
