Germanwings co-pilot had been treated for 'suicidal tendencies,' officials say

The co-pilot accused of flying Germanwings Flight 9525 into an Alpine mountainside had once received treatment for "suicidal tendencies," according to new information revealed by German prosecutors on Monday.



Andreas Lubitz received the psychotherapy treatment years before obtaining his pilot's license, the prosecutors said, and doctors had noted signs of improvement since then.


"In the following period, and until recently, further doctor's visits took place, resulting in sick notes without any suicidal tendencies or aggression against others being recorded," the prosecutor's spokesman Ralf Herrenbrueck said. Read more...
