Giving Tuesday, the global movement of giving back after consumer-driven holidays Black Friday and Cyber Monday, saw its most successful year yet on Tuesday, according to early metrics.
Nonprofit solutions firm Blackbaud, which has provided the Giving Tuesday partners with donation data since the day was founded in 2012, processed $26,183,217.42 in online donations from 4,396 unique nonprofit organizations in the U.S. This is a 36% year-over-year increase in donation dollars from 2013, and a whopping 159% increase from the first Giving Tuesday in 2012.
