Google Maps gets better integration with Uber and OpenTable

Google Maps can do more than just give directions.

Google unveiled a new update Wednesday that allows users to make restaurant reservations and get more precise Uber estimates from within the Maps app.

Both the iOS and Android versions sport a redesigned look and feel to bring the app in line with Google's new Material Design philosophy.

"This new look is all about creating surfaces and shadows that echo the real world; with Google Maps’ new material feel, layers and buttons come to life so you know just where to touch to get directions, recommendations and imagery," Evelyn Kim, UX Designer for Google Maps, wrote in a blog post.
