The Central Intelligence Agency wants to set the record straight on Argo, the 2012 Oscar-winning film about a daring rescue operation in Iran.
Based on the true story of the 1979 hostage crisis in Tehran, Argo portrays the eventual rescue of six American diplomats by CIA agents posing as a film crew.
The CIA spent Friday debunking the Ben Affleck-directed film on its Twitter account, pointing out aspects of the 1979 operation that differ from Hollywood's take. While the movie didn't stray too far from reality, some of the CIA's tidbits shed new light on the rescue operation. Read more...
