HBO: It's Not TV, It's Documentaries (on Monday Nights, at Least)

Sunday nights on HBO might be dedicated to the fantastical world of True Blood, but Mondays are all about real life.

The network has officially dubbed Monday nights the new home of nonfiction filmmaking and will henceforth use the timeslot to host its slate of wide-ranging documentaries.

Twitter to Acquire TapCommerce, a Mobile Ad Retargeting Service

Twitter has agreed to buy TapCommerce, an ad tech firm, the two companies announced late Monday. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but Re/code reports it may have been around $100 million

TapCommerce describes itself as a mobile ad retargeting and app reengagement service. To put that more simply, TapCommerce sells ads designed to prompt users to open up apps they've already downloaded. The company was founded in 2012 and raised more than $10 million in funding.

'Fat Guys in the Woods' Is An Actual Show Coming to the Weather Channel

The Weather Channel wants men to put down the iPad and get their plump rumps into the great outdoors. And they're not mincing words: the new show is called "Fat Guys in the Woods."

Survival expert Creek Stewart will lift three sedentary males out of their couch indentations and plop them into the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee for one week, during which they will battle "frigid and unpredictable weather" (that's the part that makes the show on-brand apparently) and learn how to survive with "little or no mass-made camping tools," according to a release from the network. Charles Darwin ate one on his trip to Brazil. Apparently it tasted more like pork than chicken. My nine-year-old, football-mad, half-Brazilian son could identify one on his World Cup merchandising and my Brazilian biologist wife knew it was some kind of armadillo, but not which species. It is of course Brazil’s World Cup mascot, the three-banded armadillo, named Fuleco.

It was brave to choose such an obscure animal as an official mascot. The English used a lion when they started this tradition in 1966 and the South Africans used a leopard in 2010. It is refreshing to see such a non-emblematic species chosen — and one that is endangered and needs awareness of its existence to be raised. LG announces KitKat updates for older Optimus models

LG Brazil, obviously not too busy caught up in World Cup festivities, announced on Facebook that several older model LG Optimus devices will receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. This will bring them in line with their more recent descendants like the G3 and G2. The LG Optimus G, now almost 2 years old, is scheduled to be running KitKat by the end of August. The more recent Optimus G Pro is slated to get the update a month earlier, in July. Certain other LG models, like the L7 II and dual-SIM G Pro Lite models will also receive the update by years' end. Others won't be so lucky, as devices like the LG Optimus 4X HD and LG Optimus F5 will not be getting updated to Android 4.4 KitKat. GM Recalls 7.6 Million More Vehicles

After recalling more than 17 million vehicles so far this year in the United States, General Motors on Monday announced its largest-yet recall of another 7.6 million cars and light trucks spanning 17 years.

“We undertook what I believe is the most comprehensive safety review in the history of our company because nothing is more important than the safety of our customers,” said GM CEO Mary Barra in a statement from the company. “Our customers deserve more than we delivered in these vehicles.
