The slap bracelet, an accessory cherished by kids of the 1980s and 1990s, is making a modern comeback in the form of a fitness tracker for kids.
Lifestyle tech company X-Doria has launched the KidFit Wristband, which snaps onto the wrist when slightly tapped and keeps track of kids' physical activity. The device is the latest from toy manufacturers looking to capitalize on the wearables trend.
The device works with Bluetooth and syncs wirelessly to the free KidFit app (iOS and Android), where parents and children can set daily fitness goals. Kids can earn points as they inch closer to those benchmarks and the app sends encouraging feedback along the way. Read more...

Tinder has suspended one of its cofounders who was sued by a former female employee for alleged sexual harassment
Tinder's owner, IAC, has suspended Justin Mateen, who is also the company's CMO, while it carries out a probe of issues raised in the lawsuit. Reps from IAC could not be reached for immediate comment.
Whitney Wolfe, another cofounder, filed a complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday that claims Mateen called her a "whore" and threatened to take away her cofounder status because having a young female cofounder "makes the company seem like a joke" and devalues the company. Read more...

Barack Obama clearly has quite the sweet tooth.
Obama took a moment on Monday to praise retiring White House pastry chef Bill Yosses, a.k.a. the Crustmaster, for being "a man who has made life at the White House very sweet." Then he joked about the pies being baked with crack
"I don't know what he does, whether he puts crack in them," Obama quipped, acknowledging his uncontrollable cravings for Yosses' pies. He then paused for a brief moment, as though suddenly realizing that he had made a joke about crack in the White House
First lady Michelle Obama quickly came to the rescue. "No, he doesn't," she clarified to the snickering crowd. "There is no crack in our pies." Read more...

Sony likes to refresh its flagship Android smartphones twice per year, unlike most of its competitors. The practice has proven somewhat controversial (especially among owners of the previous top of the line device when the new one comes out), but it looks like it's here to stay. So you should expect the Japanese company to unveil the successor to the Xperia Z2 sometime in the fall - probably at or around IFA at the beginning of September. The next high-end Sony smartphone may be called Xperia Z3, and it could also be joined in the company's portfolio by a smaller version called Z3 Compact. What you see in the images above are allegedly exactly these two phones. On the left we have a side-by-side shot of a white Z3 and a black Z3 Compact, and on the right is just the Xperia Z3 itself, showing its entire front fascia. Both devices seem to feature significantly smaller lateral bezels compared to their respective predecessors, which is definitely a great thing in this day and age (when certain Sony handsets look painfully out of date in this regard compared to some of LG's offerings, for example). Otherwise, though, nothing is known about the Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact yet. The latter will come to succeed the Z1 Compact, and it's interesting to note that there was no Xperia Z2 Compact. That makes sense, however, when you consider that the Z1 Compact was outed just one month prior to the full size Z2 - and this fall Sony may understandably want both of its new wares to sport the same name, for consistency's sake. Before you jump to any conclusions, though, do keep in mind that there's obviously a chance for these leaked pictures to be faked. Source (in Chinese) |...
