Fourteen Australian museums and cultural organisations have been added to the Google Cultural Institute, which brings together historical treasures from around the globe for online exploration

The initiative announced on Tuesday will make an extra 2,000 local cultural and historical artifacts available digitally.

Australia's National Portrait Gallery, the iconic Sculpture by the Sea exhibition, Australia's War Memorial and the National Museum of Australia are just some of the institutions joining the likes of the Tate Modern in London and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris.
