The Department of Justice found significant evidence of racism among Ferguson police and within the city's court system after a months-long inquiry that began after white police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed Michael Brown, a black teenager, in August.
“The city relies on the police to serve essentially as a collection agency," United States Attorney General Eric Holder said in a press conference about the report. “These policing practices disproportionately harm African-American residents."
