Family tries to save pet from village's new ban on pit bulls

A village in Louisiana has taken the step of banning residents from owning pit bulls and Rottweilers.

And that doesn't just mean banning new dog purchases — Moreauville, Louisiana, announced it will impound dogs from any households that have not gotten rid of the animals by Dec. 1.

O'Hara Owens' family received a letter warning that if they did not get rid of their pit bull Zeus, the village would take him for "further disposition."

Her family is challenging the ban, and pleading with Moreauville officials to save Zeus, according to local CBS station KALB. Moreauville passed the ordinance on Oct. 13 of this year. Read more...
