Burning Man Reopens After Monsoon Rains Temporarily Close Festival

People from around the world probably didn't plan on spending the night at a Wal-Mart in Reno, Nevada, on their epic pilgrimage to the annual counter-culture festival Burning Man.


But that's where many found themselves until Tuesday morning after Burning Man organizers closed the gates to the festival on what would have been its opening day. Monsoon rains had turned the normally dusty, dry Black Rock Desert lake bed into a muddy swamp.



The Burning Man organizers announced after midnight that the attendees would be able to enter the Playa on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. At 6 a.m. PT the gates reopened and those who traveled by car or RV were allowed to set up camp, according to the Bold Italic . Read more...
